Delicious old school southern cooking. If healthy eating is your thing, this is not your place. The interior is comfortably retro, with a couch seating area at the bar. The true star is the food. I ordered the country fried steak. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy. I chose collard greens and a deviled egg as my side, and the entree came with a biscuit. Everything was scratch made. The steak was fork tender, fried Golden brown and covered with lightly peppered scratch gravy. It was accompanied by homemade mashed potatoes, delicious and ever so slightly lumpy. The biscuit was baked to perfection, slightly crunchy and buttery. The collard greens were delicious. I had mine with vinegar. The deviled egg was good but not the best I've ever had. Overall, highly recommended.

Great service with a smile, great portions and delicious taste. Will be my new to go to spot! I fit the meatloaf - if you like Cajun - you’ll like it. Also the broccoli salad was delicious. Green tomatoes were great, extra seasoning with a slight kick.
Happened upon this place while in town and was intrigued, walked in at 12:20 and it was a ghost town, kind of made me think a bit. Menu looked pretty awesome so decided to stay and give it a try. Ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The food came out in a reasonable time but was not hot, deviled egg that came with it (not on menu) was dry on the top like it had sit out. First bite was egg, pretty good. Second biscuit, good but cold. Then the shrimp and grits. The sauce was not my favorite but maybe it's just a style thing, heavy on cream and less on more traditional shrimp and grits style but ok. After first bite I had to spit out a shrimp shell and then noticed there were miscellaneous pieces of shrimp shell and antenna in the dish and even a dark hair. The kitchen had not cleaned the shrimp properly and were must have been sloppy on their cleanliness. This is why the low rating. Service was excellent, atmosphere cool, probably better if there would have been other people there. Makes me wonder if the locals know what's coming from the kitchen. Might try the comedy night when hopefully there's a crowd there.
This used to be one of my favorite spots, I've even recommended the place to lots of people. I'm feeling sick, my fiance happens to be in Charlotte, he asked me if I wanted comfort food. My mind went to what used to be ahhhmazing chicken and dumplings, with one delicious deviled egg, and a fluffy biscuit. I did not receive a deviled egg, nor a biscuit made from clouds. However, what I did receive was the most disgusting dumpling I've ever had. My chest is still burning from the few bites I had full of salt, hardly any dumplings, shredded chicken, with carrots? My fiance that doesn't like to waste food couldn't even finish it. Too bad we can't get a refund. Are there new owners? I think I read a new kitchen manager? If that is the reason, he or she needs to be fired on the spot, and go work at Hardee's, actually Hardee's isn't great, but they would have them shut down. Although, I'm convinced Hardee's is still in business by an illegal side hustle, I'm off my soap box, and if I felt better would soap my mouth 🤢🤮. $17 for something our dog wouldn't even eat.
The food arrived hot, fresh, truly delicious. Portions were generous, leaving no room for hunger. Every bite was perfectly seasoned without needing anything extra. The meatloaf with grits delivered pure comfort, reminding me of a homemade meal. This place gives that cozy, satisfied feeling after a great dish.
