I have lived in multiple states in my lifetime and duke energy is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with......we moved into our home in October and we have had nothing but issues since! Every single month it's something......we pay our bill every month but they want to add more money and the customer service sucks horribly! They feel they know everything without listening to the customer.....they are being paid to be evil......count your days duke energy

I have serious concerns about Duke Energy’s billing practices and the lack of transparency in how electric bills are calculated. From 2020 through 2025, my monthly utility costs have increased far beyond what would be expected under normal, gradual rate adjustments. In 2024–2025 alone, I paid over $2,000 in electricity costs. Over a span of just five to six years, my monthly bill has risen from about $125 to approximately $169, which reflects a much sharper increase than the typical incremental adjustments of around $5 per year that would normally be expected in stable conditions. These increases feel inconsistent with regular household usage and are difficult to fully understand based on the billing information provided. While utility companies operate under regulated rate structures, the complexity of charges, adjustments, and riders makes it difficult for customers to clearly see what is driving these significant increases. This lack of clear, accessible explanation creates confusion and raises concerns about transparency and accountability. Customers deserve straightforward billing that clearly explains why rates are increasing and how those charges are calculated, especially when costs rise so significantly within a relatively short period of time.

I live in Williamston Sc and have seen Duke trucks and 3rd party contractors standing around for hours waiting for ticket orders and Duke says they are responding to the needs of the people during Helene power restoration. Duke let us all know when the transformers and other equipment arrives.

I wrote this same review for the nearest Duke office but I’m putting it here too because I know this isn’t just a local issue. Duke energy as a whole is a joke. “A failure of company and worthless employees. They came out to fix a power line last night that a tree had fallen on, power didn’t return until almost midnight. 10PM rolls around today and a tree they neglected last night falls back on the same line taking out power again. Not only is this inconvenient and a waste of resources but extremely dangerous as both last night and tonight, live power lines are sitting in the road waiting to be walked/ridden/driven over. Crazy that a multi-billion dollar company can’t hire/train employees that are of any use. Maybe if someone gets hurt due to their negligence things will change but I doubt it. Thanks Dick energy.”

Demanded a $300 deposit after seven years of consistent payment. Duke only cares about profits not people. Wish they had competition and didn’t take advantage of their own customers.
